Message Hi guys, I got my 89TT engine rebuilt with forged pistons, HKS2530 turbo's, MS manifolds, SZ dumps, 750cc injectors & went from auto cams to manual cams along with JWT heavy duty valve springs & changing from series 1 to series 2 cam gears.

My mechanic was doing the run in engine service/ oil change & noticed that the engine had excessive cam gear chatter upon start up so we installed new JWT heavy duty VTC springs & whilst it helped a little, the cam gear chatter is still there & my mechanic has put it down to the drivers side inlet cam gear being faulty.

The sound gradually goes away after the car has warmed up.

Now I asked him if this would put my new engine at any risk & he told me that he hasn't seen any failures due to excessive cam gear chatter, but that he also couldn't promise.

I'm pretty broke after dong my rebuild & am sourcing a second S2 cam gear, my question is, what do you guys think?
I'm going to get the car dyno tuned in a few days whilst it still has this issue - do you think here will be a chance something could go wrong whilst revving the car hard during the dyno tune or should I just drive it around normally & do the dyno tune after sorting the cam gear issue?

I guess the answer I'm hoping for is that it's nothing major & once the engine warms up & noice ceases, it'll be o.k?

Many thanks
